Looking to add extra energy to your cake with different cake decorating techniques?

We’ll show you some great tips!

- Properly Prepare Pans

Use a two inch paint brush to brush vegetable shortening onto the pan before using it.

When the pan is fully greased, dust flour over it.

This is an all-natural way to keep your cake from sticking.

- Allow The Cake To Set

It’s best to wait for the cake to set, preferably at least over 24 hours.

Store it in an airtight container for this time – it will keep the cake as fresh as possible

- Ice The Sides Properly

Icing the sides of the cake can be one of the trickiest parts.

The best way to do this is to spin the cake rather than move the spatula (think of how a potter’s wheel works).

Hold the spatula up against the cake, and spin it to have the icing even out.

This will create a smooth, easy finish around the cake sides – one of many great cake decorating techniques.

- Create Perfect Roses

Take a small bit of fondant, colored the way you want, and roll it into a ball with your hands.

When you have a perfect sphere, flatten it between two fingers, making a petal.

The thicker end attaches to the bottom of the rose, tapering off towards the top.

Wrap a few petals together – groups of three look fantastic!

- Study Up On Different Cake Decorating Techniques!

In the world of cake decorating, you always need to be practicing as much as possible.

Keep up to speed by reading the right blogs, and keeping a good library of cake decorating books – you’ll thank yourself in the long run!
